Tonight I undressed the Christmas Tre She is so beautiful - Serene and still Yet vibrating - pulsing - Quivering in her suspended breathing.
She didn't give out much perfume 'Till I moved her and bruised her.
Every Angel I took off... Trumpeting and clashing... Every Bell I un-hung... Every Father Christmas and red apple. And diamond pointed icicle Of sparkling lead crystal... I took off carefully And Thanked her once again - No! - Worshipped her! - And Breathed her 'Thanks'.
The candle lights have glowed on her each night Since Christmas Eve. She hardly lost any needles - Leaves fed with water I gave...
When I unpacked her bucket and bricks And polystyrene snow, I found a worm Clinging to her roots.
Oh Goddess Gaia! How lucky I am to have had This beautiful tree Here in my home Where I have read and slept And dreamed and drunk
A whole bottle of champagne Was needed to despoil her - To lose her - to say "Good Bye".
Now I know why no one came To make love with me under her branches - My love affair was with her, And still is, and always will be.
Please live in the garden, Tree ! And let me live in ecstasy With each tree I see.
Honour me with your breath each day ... I have an opiate dream Of rainforest oxygen Bubbling though my veins.
